I have poked around online and saw that it closed on March 9th. It is unclear if COVID-19 being on the horizon was the catalyst that put them over the top, or if closed unrelated to the pandemic. Whether or not COVID-19 was a factor in their timely closure, there are numerous other factors. They allowed the lease to expire, as it was likely no longer profitable for them to operate.
Perhaps Black Angus was too old school for its surrounding clientele, as it is adjacent to Fresno State University. It had been a hotspot for the college students for decade ago when it opened in 1977 at Shaw and Cedar. College students today are eating less meat (there are far more vegans today), and have a plethora of other places to socialize at, such as Starbucks and McDonalds (speedy service and Wi-Fi is what students value highly). With technology being much more robust than it was just a decade ago, students simply have far less incentive to go to an ordinary restaurant.
