Just before Magic Mountain…

So on our way to Southern California today to enjoy Fright Fest at Magic Mountain, we made a layover at the rather empty Microtel just before the Grapevine. After streching our legs and resting for a bit it was time to take a stroll (to get our steps for Fitbit woot woot)! I quickly noticed that the clouds above the mountains were very peculiar looking. This cloud formation is are called lenticular clouds. These clouds are usually helped to form by large structures such as mountains. They also get their name from their UFO (flying saucer) appearance. Here’s the original shot:
