Regal movie makeover almost done

A couple of weekends ago the newly remodeled and rebranded Regal Cinemas opened their doors with COVID-19 restrictions in place. We were bumming around River Park last week for dinner and we had a chance to poke our heads in and check it out. While the renovation isn’t 100% complete, it is fully operationally for movies, and I absolutely love what they’ve done with the place!

The moniker Edwards Stadium 21 is no more. They have even scrubbed that from the side of the building that can be seen from Highway 41. The arcade has yet to arrive and the bar has moved to the right side of the auditorium and is still under construction. I love the dark theme throughout and the modern look and feel. To be honest, it feels a little Bay Area and Southern California and that bodes well for dispelling the little cow town rep that hangs around our collective necks.

I’m sure we will be in soon to take in a flick or two and I’m also a little intrigued about what new dedicated 4DX auditorium is all about. That goes for the IMAX screens too as they have vacated the separate little space a rock’s throw from the main building and are moving it to the new building. Big thumbs up for the new and improved Regal Cinemas!!!

Holiday Drive-In event at River Park postponed

Event organizers on Monday announced that the Holiday Drive-In at River Park would be postponed until further notice, out of “great respect for public health during the ongoing pandemic.” The event is a holiday-themed outdoor theater at the River Park Shopping Center to play Christmas movies.

The holiday drive-in, which was set up by converting the top of the shopping mall’s parking lot into an outdoor movie theater, was initially scheduled to launch on Nov. 18. Event organizers, in a statement, said they hope to make it a possibility in the weeks to come.
